Mr. Lou Benyi, influenced by his family since childhood, has a great passion for calligraphy and painting. His calligraphy starts with "willows and beauties" and traces back to the "two kings". Later, he admired the calligraphy styles of Mi Fu, Wang Duo, and Wu Changshuo, and worked particularly hard. In the late 1970s and early 1980s, I was fortunate enough to be a disciple of Mr. Chen Jingyuan and Mr. Wang Gegui, disciples of Wu Changshuo. As a disciple who entered the school, I followed the teachings of Mr. Jin and said, "Take the method to the top, take it to the middle, take it to the middle, take it to the bottom, take it to the bottom, and nothing at all." I traced back to the styles of Shi Tao, the Eight Great Green Vines, the Eight Eccentrics of Yangzhou, Ren Bonian, Zhao Zhiqian, and Wu Changshuo, tracing the roots and inheriting the traditional painting of our country. From 1984 to 1985, I participated in the seal carving correspondence course taught by Mr. Wang Gegui for the Shanghai Youth Daily. I graduated from the Correspondence University of Chinese Painting and Calligraphy in 1988. In 1985, participated in the National Youth Seal Carving Grand Prix and won the third prize. In the late 1970s and early 1980s, the works participated in several provincial and municipal exhibitions and won awards. In 2014, he participated in the National "Drawman Cup" Grand Prix and won the second prize. Participate in the "Lingering Fragrance and Ink Charm" National Calligraphy and Painting Artists Exhibition held at the China Century Altar. In September 2015, participated in the "Remembering History and Cherishing Peace" calligraphy and painting exhibition commemorating the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the Anti Fascist War. Calligraphy screens and traditional Chinese painting peonies were both exhibited and collected by the organizing committee. In the same year, he was nominated as a candidate for "Outstanding Chinese Artist in China and the United States", and his works were intended to be selected as US stamp patterns for public release in the United States and globally. In 2016, on the occasion of commemorating the 1400th anniversary of the publication of the Fangshan Stone Sutra and the establishment of Yunju Temple, calligraphy works of four feet and twelve screens were collected by the Cultural Relics Management Office of Yunju Temple; In December of the same year, the work "Fortune and Wealth Immortals" was selected for the Beijing Calligraphy, Art and Photography Exhibition to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Long March, and was collected by the organizing committee. In the same year, he was selected to celebrate the 95th anniversary of the founding of the CPC; Participated in the 2nd Huaxia Star Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Talent Selection Activity, and calligraphy and painting works were selected for awards, and were hired as specially invited calligraphers and painters by the Chinese Calligraphers and Painters Newspaper. In the same year, I was invited by Chinese enterprises to participate in the tribute event for outstanding people's artists. In 2017, the work was collected by the Beijing Municipal People's Government. In the same year, it was selected for the "Never Forget the Original Aspiration, Keep Moving Forward" stamp album; the work won the first prize in the "Never Forget the Original Aspiration, Remember the Mission, Keep Moving Forward" calligraphy and painting exhibition. In 2018, after comprehensive evaluation by the Information Science Research Institute of China Enterprise News Alliance, it was selected as one of the "Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Masters Library"; In the same year, he received praise at the filial piety event of "Heart Lamp Lights Up" organized by the Chinese Aging Commission for love and public welfare; Received the title of "People's Artist"; Joined the New Art Group Calligraphers and Painters Working Committee of the Chinese Calligraphers and Painters Association in September 2018. In July 2023, he was awarded the "Great Contribution Award for World Cultural Exchange" and the "First Batch of Central American Smart Bed Experts" by the Central Academy of Fine Arts. As a disciple of the Shanghai style giant Wu Changshuo, he not only inherited the gene of freehand brushwork spirit, but also injected contemporary aesthetic consciousness into decades of creation, forming a unique artistic language of "seeing subtlety in the atmosphere and vitality in the simplicity". His artistic practice has become a model path for the transformation of traditional literati painting to modernity. The combination of rouge and stone green not only exudes a sense of wealth and prosperity, but also exudes a fairy like atmosphere; The Eagle series features sharp eyes and claws outlined in burnt ink, and wing layers dyed in light ink, embodying the dynamic force of fighting in the long sky in a static state; The Mohe series is also its representative work, using seal script to outline lotus stems, with a strong taste of gold and stone, and using the technique of breaking ink to express the richness, lightness, dryness, and wetness of lotus leaves.
