Song Xiaojun was born in March 1954 and is a member of the Communist Party of China. Born in Fuping, Shaanxi, with a pen name of Binyang Jushi. Born in a scholarly background, he is one of the leaders of contemporary Chinese academic calligraphers, a renowned scholar calligrapher, calligraphy theorist, and national senior artist. He is also a member of the Chinese Calligraphers Association and the Central State Organ Calligraphers Association. He is a visiting professor at the School of Art of Peking University, a visiting professor at the Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts, and the chairman of the People's Calligraphy and Painting Newspaper Council.
