谷宝玉，号福来、花翁、百花轩主、净晶居士，1939年3月18日生于青岛，2016年获得英国剑桥大学博士学位。

1962年8月9日经山东大学黄公诸教授介绍并主持，拜艺术大师李苦禅、王雪涛为师。因其为人热情、忠厚、直率、善良、义气；天生聪颖好学，颇得恩师之垂爱。

他的画是在中国传统绘画的基础上，通过临摹、写生、观察，把诗书画印四位一体统一完美的结合，开创了天趣一路，独一无二的绘画风格。作品简约、洗练、传神、生动、感人，给予观众一强大的震撼。

谷宝玉曾任青岛中国画研究院院长、联合国教科文卫组织官员、中国国家书画院副院长、世界艺术家联合会艺术总监、中国文学艺术家联合会第二届副主席、国际保护民间艺术组织主席、中国人民艺术博览馆副馆长、全国政协画院副院长、中国海洋大学国画教授等职。

谷宝玉的作品曾应邀为人大会堂、中南海、国防部贵宾厅及山东、山西、广东、广西、浙江、江苏、四川、福建、上海、宁夏、甘肃、新疆等省市接待厅绘制了巨幅画作。他的作品《远处幽香》、《群英图》、《十里荷香》、《晴雪》、《百子吉祥图》等先后被日本首相迟田大佐，美国总统克林顿，英国大使白琳等政要所收藏。

他的艺术成就入编了《世界名人录（中国卷）》、《世界华人书画名家大辞典》、《中国美术选集》、《中国近现代名人书画选集》、《中国当代国画家大辞典》、《中国当代书画篆刻家大辞典》、《中华国学人物志》等；出版有《谷宝玉画集》、《谷宝玉画册》、《谷宝玉诗书画印精品集》、《范曾谷宝玉合集》、《黄永玉谷宝玉合集》、《方增先谷宝玉合集》、《谷宝玉孙琪峰合集》、《谷宝玉刘大为合集》、《谷宝玉何家英合集》、《谷宝玉张立辰合集》、《谷宝玉喻继高合集》等；为中央美院主编《谷宝玉国画作品集》，为清华大学主编《谷宝玉花鸟画典范》，为国家画院主编《谷宝玉作品精选集》，为中国海洋大学主编《中国写生花鸟画技法》等。

由于谷宝玉的艺术成就独出、事业感人，1992年在全国首届西施杯诗书画印大奖赛中荣获金奖，并授予“德艺双馨”功勋艺术家的光荣称号，2010年被联合国授予“2010年度世界华人领袖”的光荣称号，同年被中国艺联授予“感动中国的十大功勋人物”的光荣称号，2013年被联合国教科文卫组织授予“感动世界的年度人物”光荣称号等。

Gu Baoyu, also known as Fulai, Huaweng, Baihuaxuan Master, and Jingjing Jushi, was born on March 18, 1939 in Qingdao and obtained a doctoral degree from the University of Cambridge in 2016.

Gu Baoyu has served as the President of Qingdao Chinese Painting Research Institute, an official of the United Nations Educational, Scientific, Cultural and Health Organization, Vice President of the National Academy of Painting and Calligraphy of China, Art Director of the World Artists Federation, Vice Chairman of the Second Session of the Chinese Literature and Artists Federation, Chairman of the International Organization for the Protection of Folk Art, Deputy Director of the Chinese People's Art Expo, Vice President of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Painting Academy, and Professor of Chinese Painting at Ocean University of China.

Gu Baoyu's works have been invited to paint giant paintings for the People's Congress Hall, Zhongnanhai, Ministry of National Defense VIP Hall, and reception halls in provinces and cities such as Shandong, Shanxi, Guangdong, Guangxi, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Sichuan, Fujian, Shanghai, Ningxia, Gansu, and Xinjiang. His works, such as "Fragrance in the Distance", "A Group of Heroes", "Ten Mile Lotus Fragrance", "Clear Snow", and "A Hundred Sons of Auspiciousness", have been collected by Japanese Prime Minister Colonel Chida, US President Clinton, British Ambassador Shirley, and other political figures.

Due to Gu Baoyu's unique artistic achievements and touching career, she won a gold medal in the first National Xishi Cup Poetry, Calligraphy, Painting and Printing Grand Prix in 1992 and was awarded the honorable title of "Virtue and Art Double Prosperity" as a meritorious artist. In 2010, she was awarded the honorable title of "World Chinese Leader of the Year" by the United Nations. In the same year, she was awarded the honorable title of "Top Ten Meritorious Figures Touching China" by the China Arts Federation. In 2013, she was awarded the honorable title of "Person of the Year Touching the World" by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, Cultural and Health Organization.
